Canada Introduces New Rules to Reduce Regulatory Burden

On 21 October, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat announced a new Cabinet Directive on Regulatory Competitiveness and Red Tape Reduction, due to take effect on 31 December 2026. It requires regulators to reduce regulatory burden costs by C$2 for every C$1 added and assess proposed rules for competitiveness, cost, benefit and risk; legal advisers and compliance teams can explore regulatory tracking and reporting systems, with HPC providing secure data analytics on a project-specific quotation.
